Jan Nygren

Jan is a Sr. Business Development Executive with both Startup and Fortune 500 management experience. He has demonstrated success in setting strategic direction, crafting resonating marketing messages, restructuring organizations, recruiting personnel and growing revenue.

His background includes extensive experience on both sides of the VC transaction including writing business plans, raising capital, establishing strategic relationships, evaluating investments, managing the due diligence process and negotiating contract terms.

Jan's technology background spans the semiconductor, telecommunications and software markets. He has also been an Entrepreneur in Residence for Rock Maple Ventures.

Education: JD and MBA, College of William & Mary; BS in Commerce, University of Virginia.

He lives in the Boston area.

Alain Renaud

Alain was the co-founder of MentoNet, along with John Turner. As President and founder of ABR Europe, for 12 years he operated as a venture catalyst and business angel, developing eleven French start-up companies and enabling them to be financed with venture capital, being personally responsible for raising more than $100 million.

Among the companies that have been sold, Leonard's Logic was sold to Hummingbird after two years of operation growing from scratch to 120 employees as a major company in data management. The second major trade sale was the acquisition of SLP Infoware by Gemplus. Alain was also commissioned by the Boston based company NMS to manage the acquisition of a European company, VOX. Synquest, a supply chain management company was initially financed by Warburg Pincus and went public four years later.

In the 1970s, Alain was active in the sales team of Teradyne in Europe and in the US, where he first met John Turner. He later reorganized Teradyne's international service group, taking it to a fully operating revenue group.

Alain is a French citizen, living in Paris.

Jon Rortveit

Jon has 20 years of executive management experience from hardware, software internet and consulting business, most recently CEO of TYNAX, the world's largest technology market place and news service. In this role, he has managed the company from pre-revenue to global presence, including negotiating contracts with Global 100 companies.

Earlier, Jon was the founder and CEO of International Business Accelerator; a boutique consulting company that helped emerging technology companies grow from home market to US market presence. In this role, he designed a unique new market entry methodology for international technology companies entering the US market. The company grew to a multi million dollar consulting business. As President and VP Marketing of DAVIS A/S, Davis North America, a leading developer and market maker of the Texas Instruments DLP technology, Jon grew it from a startup to $100 million business and established global channels and partnerships with Fortune 500 companies.

Education: BA from Norwegian School of Management, MBA from Warwick Business School, UK.

Jon is a US resident, living in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Cindy Steiner

Cindy is an international executive communications coach who has run her own company for 17 years in Europe and in the US. Since she has lived in both Europe and in the US, she understands the nuances involved in communicating across cultures. She has coached executives in companies of all sizes, from start-ups to Fortune 500.

She is especially known for her success in coaching CEOs and management teams on their investor presentations to potential investors, the Board of Directors, the Media, and in preparation for an IPO or M&A. Some recent successes: a biotech CEO raised $40 million after being coached by Cindy. And, a technology company CEO raised $25 million after working with her.

Cindy is fluent in French, Spanish, English and speaks some German.

She holds a Masters Degree and two Bachelor of Arts degrees, and did graduate work in international business communications in Europe. Cindy has also taught international business communications at the university level.

Cindy is a US citizen and lives in the San Francisco area.

Kay Thompson
Kay Thompson, PhD is a senior operations executive with both corporate and start-up experience. She is a recognized leader in the field of Risk Assessment and Leadership Development having over 25 years experience working with start-ups to Fortune 500's. Her background features expertise in creating new business units, directing turnarounds, and growing small to medium size companies.

She has also consulted with Fortune 500 companies and government agencies in business development, operations management, marketing and strategic development within the US, Europe, the Middle East, the Pacific Basin and Asia.

Kay provides executive coaching to the C-suite fostering successful solutions to issues that result from an ever-changing business climate. Kay is an active member of the National Association for Corporate Directors and serves on multiple boards and chairs the Compensation Committee.

She is fluent in Italian and French with a knowledge of Arabic.

Kay received her Doctor and Masters in Business Psychology & Organizational Strategy from Summit University and her B.A. in International Business from the American College of Switzerland. She is currently continuing her education with ongoing professional studies at Stanford University.

Kay lives in the San Francisco area.
